Whenever Y’all Ready, I’m Here For You. Just Sayin’.

UPDATED: Mailbag: Shout-out to all my listeners and readers who are young black guys with a gold tooth.

Here at The Barnhardt Blog and Podcast, we’re all about the diversity: the true diversity that comes from simply saying that which is true. It’s universally attractive to morally sane people of good will.

Below is a letter over the transom from a lady who made a bumper sticker for her car that references me. I think the bumper sticker analogy is probably quite theologically flawed. What do you think? I think a much better formulation could be thought up. Although I frequently feel like saying to people, “When possible, make a u-turn…. Please make a u-turn…. MAKE A U-TURN.”

Ann,

As I’m driving and running errands, I find myself at a red light. Then I hear this incessant honking. I’m like,”who is honking?!” A delivery driver for OnTrac rolls down his window and says, “Man! I love your bumper sticker! That girl…that girl right there knows what’s up.” I said thank you and he continues, “she’s tough man but you have to be! God Bless!” Then the light turns green. I thought this was a great example of not judging a book by its cover. He was a black man about 35 with a gold front tooth.

He has good taste in bumper stickers and apparently blogs/podcasts. 🙂

Lady in Arizona

I think this is a better formulation for a bumper sticker:

Heaven is my Destination,

Christ is my Pilot,

Our Lady is the Co-Pilot,

and Ann Barnhardt is my Stewardess!

Christmas Mailbag: Welcome Back Edition

Ann,

This Christmas is going to be a joyous one for me because, much to my shame which the Lord has forgiven and to my exceeding joy, I went to Confession and Mass today for the first time since March 2020.

All the diabolical lockdowns we had here meant that my – til then – routine of Sunday Mass and at least monthly confession were broken and I struggled to return.

Last night I prayed with tears to St. Joseph, to whom I’m consecrated, and begged him to perform a miracle and get me to Mass and Confession. I wanted to have the great gift of having sanctifying grace in me again and to receive the Eucharist as a sign of the Lord being reborn in me. And so this morning, I finally got to the Latin Mass and went to Confession during Mass (as the Fathers hold Confession right up to the Consecration) and I went in right after the Creed and made my humble Confession.

I can’t express the peace I got at the words that the Lord Jesus said to me through His priest. He confirmed that He’d never abandoned me even as I had, shamefully, abandoned Him in the Sacraments. And He said, through His priest, “Welcome back”.

I almost cried when I received Holy Communion. It felt like seeing a friend after a long time. After Mass I got some holy water, went to Our Lady to thank her also (as I know she was also involved) and also went to St. Peter, and begged him to end the Antipapacy. Incidentally, the priest used his homily to talk about that piece of apostasy “Fiducia Supplicans” and pretty much rinsed the Vatican and the document and said the Fathers there won’t be blessing sodomy at all!

I’m planning to ONLY attend the Latin Mass and not that other thing. I’ve had it with Modernism and Vatican II. The sooner that excuse of a Council is reduced to an asterisk, the better.

Anyway, I wish you a very happy, merry, and Christ-filled Christmas. Thank you for all you do for Christ and His Church (and for my sanity).

Christmas Is Coming!

I made the best chocolate and peanut butter chip cookies I’ve ever made in the new kitchen in the proverbial Van Down By the Crick just now. The oven is great. Every oven is different, and mine’s a winner. Whew!

Tomorrow morning the liturgical marathon begins! St. Joseph and the Blessed Virgin are almost to Bethlehem!

Toe-tapping obligatory.

Mailbag: Ember Friday in Advent Good News Edition

Over the transom just now. As long as they’re alive, it’s NEVER too late. God works in mysterious ways, and in His time. Never forget the parable of the workers. Those who rolled in at the last hour received the same wage as those who started at daybreak. And Our Lord said, “Or, is it not lawful for Me to do what I will? is thy eye evil, because I AM good?” Remember what we pray all day every day in the Pater Noster: THY will be done. Also, GO TO CONFESSION. —-AB

Ann-

A dear friend and my husband converted in the midst of the lockdowns in 2020. My friend subsequently discovered that her family were lapsed Catholics, something she had never known in the previous 50+ years of her life. Today, her father went to confession for the first time in 60 years. Hallelujah!

Merry Christmas and God bless you, Ann.
