I especially commend this young man’s soul to your prayers. A Rosary for the repose of his soul seems like the least we can do.

Is the tide turning? Do we see a glimmer of hope in this man’s self-sacrifice, a man who had his entire life in front of him, who consciously chose to lay it down that others might live?

Despite this young man’s father’s admonition to run and hide, Mr. Castillo, and yes, I refer to this 18 year old as “Mr.”, because he merits the respect due a man, charged the gunman, and saved his fellow students and teachers in doing so.

“Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
